These are the rules for using The Void — the mobile app and this website. They are deliberately short. Using either one means you accept them.
What this is
The Void is a journaling app. You say or write something, it goes into your void, and you get a color back. Once a week you see what kept coming back. This website is where you read about it, ask for early access, and send us a message.
Your account
The app makes you an anonymous account the moment you open it — no sign-up, no password. Adding an email address is optional and only exists so you can get back in on another phone. Keep access to that address; it is the only way back into an account you have signed out of.
Your entries stay yours
Everything you put into the void belongs to you. You give us a limited licence to store it, transcribe it, and run it through our AI annotation so the app can do what it does — nothing more. We do not publish it, sell it, use it to train models, or read it for any purpose other than running the service. Delete your account and the licence ends with it; see account deletion.
About the AI parts
The summaries, colors, themes, and weekly reflections are generated by a machine, and machines get things wrong. Treat them as a prompt to think, not a verdict. They are not advice — medical, psychological, legal, financial, or otherwise.
The Void is not a crisis service
It is not therapy, not a medical device, and not a substitute for a professional. Nobody is on the other end reading what you write. If you are in crisis or at risk of harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line — please do not use the app instead of that.
What you agree to
- You are old enough to use it — 13 or over, or 16 in the EU/UK.
- If you give us an email address, it will be a real one that is yours to use.
- You will not try to abuse, overwhelm, or break the app, the forms, or our servers.
- You will not submit content that is illegal, harassing, or contains malware.
- You will not reverse-engineer the app or resell access to it.
What we agree to
- We will only email you about The Void, never sell or rent your address.
- We will honor unsubscribe and deletion requests promptly.
- We will tell you what we collect and who processes it; see the Privacy page.
Ending it
You can delete your account from Settings → Delete account at any time — 30 days to change your mind, then it is gone. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk, and we will tell you why if we can reach you.
No guarantee of features or uptime
The Void is a small, actively-developed product. Anything you read here describes our current intent, not a contractual promise. Features, pricing, and availability may change. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Intellectual property
The Void name, wordmark, the app, and the design of this site belong to us. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on your own devices. You may share links to this page freely, but please do not copy the site or the app wholesale or pass either off as your own.
Disclaimer
The app and this website are provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from using them, and nothing here limits rights you have that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of The Void. If something needs sorting out, we will try to do it by email first.
Changes
If we materially change these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page.
